High Risk Compliance Areas and Best Practices for Grants Management

Presented by Dan Durst, Manager, Capital Edge Consulting

Oversight of federal programs has intensified since the introduction of Uniform Guidance and organizations are still adapting to the compliance requirements. Single Audit findings suggest that organizations are still struggling with cost allocation, time and effort reporting, subrecipient monitoring, and procurement. In this discussion we will touch on each of the high risk compliance areas and review best practices to help organizations avoid costly audit findings.

The Art of Grant Writing

Heather Pullen, Senior Public Affairs Consultant, Langton Consulting

In this presentation we will explore tips and techniques for improving the readability of a grant proposal, suggestions on how to persuade a grant reviewer to see your viewpoint, and discuss tools that modern grant writers can use for better organization and time management.

Negotiating and Accepting a Grant Award

Glenn McCormick, JD, CGMS, Senior Grants Research Specialist-Compliance, Broward County, FL

An often overlooked and misunderstood part of the grant life cycle is Negotiating and Accepting a grant award. What are your options if more or less funding is offered, the period for performance or your circumstances have changed? This presentation examines grantor and grantee options when the terms and conditions of an award are different than those set out in the NOFA. Strategies for negotiation, revising the budget, adjusting outcomes and scope of work, as well as knowing when to walk away will be discussed in this interactive session.
